This is an impressive silver-gilt reliquary pendant, dating to the 16th - 17th century A.D. The pendant contains a gold brocaded fabric under rock crystal covers. It is framed with green emerald type stones, probably glass. The pendant is double sided, with a cross on one side and fabric on the other. A hefty and 'showy' jewel, likely of a Spanish or Portuguese origin. This piece came from an old collection of jewels in Oxfordshire.
