This is a superb mid-16th-century silver-gilt devotional medallion of the Salvator Mundi (Saviour of the World), cast by the Renaissance medallist and sculptor Nickel Milicz. The medal depicts a 3/4 facing portrait of Jesus Christ, holding a globus cruciger. The legend reads as "SALVATOR MVNDI CHRISTI MIS" Saviour of the World Christ have mercy on us / Reverse of the medallion bears a representation of the Lamb of God, Agnus Dei, with banner. The legend reads as "AGNVS DEI QVI TOLLIS EGTN MVNDI" Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. The top of the medal appears to have a date, reads as 1561. The medal also has a simple suspension ring.
