This is an ancient gold finger ring, dating to the Saxon period of the 7th - 8th century A.D. Simple gold bands are always hard to date with certainty. This ring was found in association with pottery and coinage from the late 7th century, a parallel to this gold ring has also been recorded from East Lindsey (LIN-39515F). Such a simple ring may have been worn and utilized as a wedding band. A great looking and early gold ring that can still be worn today!
