This is an excellent medieval gold finger ring, dating to the 14th - 15th century. The ring is intact and in excavated condition, it retains the original rock crystal gem (foiled dark). The ring is decorated with a large turret, set with the original gem in a rubbed over mount. The sides of the bezel are decorated with a linear design in the form of a petalled flower. The original foiling on the crystal would indicate this to be a representation of a diamond, at this time painted on portraits as being 'black' due to refraction. This is a good excavated ring with no damage or restoration.
