This is an ancient Roman bronze finger ring, dating to the 3rd century A.D. The ring is set with the original layered glass gemstone, hard to tell if it was once a cameo or an intaglio. The bronze ring is in good excavated condition, being part of a cache of rings from a jeweler (discovered in Europe). A similar jewelers hoard was discovered in Snettisham in Norfolk. The gems appear to be related and the working stock of a jeweler.
