This is a nice pair of excavated Slavic gold earrings, dating to the 7th - 10th century A.D. They are decorated as a graduating set of hollow gold spheres, the joins filled with tiny gold granulation. Both earrings have the original ear wires in a hoop. Sadly one of the earrings is slightly squashed, this could be due to the weight of the soil or machinery during excavation. However, they are a matching set, originally worn by a noble Slavic lady as an indication of status. This would date to the time of the Viking raids, where jewels such as this were taken as plunder. A nice historic set of earrings.
