This finely painted portrait miniature of an unknown lady, her clothing would date her to the mid-1640s. It has been suggested this portrait is that of Queen Henrietta Maria (wife of King Charles Ist), painted in Holland for the Royalist market in Britain (post Civil War). She has a tiny piercing above her head (now filled), originally used for suspension from a ribbon. It is a rare and historic portrait worthy of further research.
