A nice Georgian Silver & Tortoise Shell Magnifying Glass in an engine turned oval-shaped case. The silver mounted magnifying glass is hinged and rotates to fit snugly in the Tortoise Shell case. The three Silver Brackets on the exterior of the case is shaped and chased. The silver is unmarked (as is usually the case with such items) though is likely to be of English workmanship. It appears to retain the original hand ground and leaded (blue) glass lens, not of a very high magnification but good for reading or studying small lettering. It bears slight chips to the edge and traces of its age but is a very nice piece and in very good condition in my opinion!
