This is a superb silver and diamond cross pendant, dating to the mid 17th century. This example is set with the original table-cut diamonds, between table-rose cut diamonds. The gems are mounted in silver, during this period was fashionable and deemed the best way to show off the quality (as opposed to set in gold which gave a yellow tint to the diamond). Such a cross would have been worn on a choker style necklace, likely for evening wear (thus to come alive by candlelight). A great looking historical piece of wearable jewellery, from the age of King Charles II and Louis XIV.
