Tudor Silver Strapend

£75.00 Approx $94.58, €87.51

Code: 10740

This is a nice Tudor period silver strapend, dating to the 16th century A.D. The box-shaped strapend is intact, with engraved decoration to the face-plate. It has a ring terminal for the suspension of a cord or chain, worn through with heavy use. Such a strapend would have been attached to a thin leather belt, with the ringed terminal being used for the suspension of a scabbard (likely to house a Pappenheimer Rapier at this date). It is a nice utilitarian piece of silver, of the type worn by the gentleman at the court of Queen Elizabeth I.
