Tudor Gold Angel of King Henry VIII

This is a Tudor gold Angel of King Henry VIII, minted in London between 1509 - 1526.

Obverse: hEnRIC'x VIII9x DI'x GRA'x REX'x AGL'x Zx FRx ("Henry by the Grace of God, King of England and France") St Michael slaying dragon, beaded circle and Latin legend surrounding, initial mark crowned portcullis.

Reverse: PERx CRVCE'x TVA'x SALVAx nOSx XPE'x RED' ("By Thy cross, save us, O Christ, our Redeemer") ship sailing right, quartered shield of arms at centre, h and rose either side of cross above, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding.

This coin is in excavated condition with a flan split.
