This is a medieval silver badge in the form of an Agnus Dei, dating to the 15th - 16th century. The badge depicts the Lamb of God with a banner, beside a pillar. The back of the badge is intact with the original suspension loop, to enable to the badge to be worn on a cord or sewn onto a hat. Jesus Christ is portrayed as the 'Lamb of God' after the phrase of Saint John the Baptist upon meeting Christ: "Behold the Lamb of God who takest away the sins of the world"
