This is a charming Renaissance gold finger ring, dating to the16th century A.D. The ring is a small size, intended for a child to wear, or to be worn on the upper joints of the finger. It is a simple yet elegant design of a plain hoop, leading to a square shaped bezel. The ring displays the original dark red ruby gemstone, set in a tightly rubbed mount. The ruby is table-cut similar, to the fashions in diamond cutting and design for this period. inside the band appears to be a makers mark, as yet undeciphered. It is an excellent example, intact and all original. A great looking ring from the age of Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots.
