Ancient Roman Silver Intaglio Ring of a Fish

This is an ancient Roman silver intaglio ring, dating to the 2nd - 3rd century AD. It is set with its original carnelian intaglio, cut with a representation of a fish. During this period simple representations of a fish were used to identify with Christians. This example has survived intact within the original gem.
