This is a nice late medieval gold finger ring, dating to the 15th - 16th century A.D. The bezel is shaped like a rose, originally coloured with enamels. Such a ring would have been given within the courtly circles, as a gesture of love or chivalric gift. During the Wars of the Roses, the rose was used as a symbol by the House of Lancaster (Red) and York (White). A nice looking medieval ring in good excavated condition.
