This is a Migration Saxon period gold finger ring, dating to the 5th - 6th century A.D. This example has a raised bezel set with a garnet gemstone, the hoop is grooved and decorated shoulders in the form of peltas or fleurs. For similar ring see: Wamers E. This ring is made from a high carat buttery yellow gold in excellent excavated condition. Originally when found the gem was missing and has been replaced with a dark garnet by a jeweller, it is now in wearable condition (see last photo)
