Germanic Migration period gold finger ring

This is a Migration period gold finger ring, dating to the 5th - 7th century A.D. The ring has a raised bezel decorated with granulation, set with the original sapphire blue glass gem. This example has a grooved hoop and decorated shoulders. For similar ring see: Wamers E. This ring is made from a high carat buttery yellow gold in excavated condition. Sadly the hoop has a single crack (this is stable and will benefit from a repair).
