This is an excavated Spanish Baroque period gold finger ring, dating to the late 16th - early 17th century. The ring has a three stone bezel, set with two of the original three emeralds. The emeralds are quite worn, but originally the centre piece had been set as natural crystal without any cutting or polishing. These gems likely originated from the famous Muzo Emerald Mines in Columbia, highly prized by the Spanish Conquistadors. The ring is presented as excavated and has not been cleaned, so it will greatly benefit from some TLC - the stones are well set and without any movement. A nice period ring from the age of Spanish Galleons and the Atocha shipwreck.
