This is a nice Renaissance silver-gilt finger ring, dating to the early to mid 16th century A.D. The ring is decorated with a quatrefoil shaped bezel, deeply engraved for enamel. The bezel is set with a faceted garnet gemstone. The shoulders are sculpted with a bull's head design. It is a good example, intact and wearable. Further examples of the type have been recorded from both Hampshire (HAMP-6C8007) and Devon (DEV-EBF9A7).
