This is a nice Renaissance silver-gilt finger ring, dating to the 16th - 17th century A.D. The ring is comprised of two bands formed into one ring, symbolic of two lives joined as one. This type of ring had been popularised from the Roman period, in various forms as engagement rings and wedding rings. It is a nice example in excellent condition that can still be worn again today. This ring was found in a cache of jewellery (during renovation work) mainly dating to the late 16th and early 17th centuries (see the last photo)
