This is a superb example of a Tudor period, Renaissance silver betrothal/wedding ring, dating to the 16th century A.D. The broad band is decorated with a pair of clasped hands holding a heart on either side of the bezel. The hoop of the ring is decorated with a dot and dash design. It is a rather showy ring, designed to be noticed and likely designed for a man to wear. Intact and in excellent condition, an ideal piece to be worn again today. Originally the was found in a cache of jewellery (during renovation work) mainly dating to the late 16th and early 17th centuries (see the last photo)
