This is an ancient Roman gold finger ring, dating to the 3rd - 4th century AD. The shape of the hoop and box setting suggests that it is probably "Guiraud type 4e", dating to the 3rd-4th century AD; however, it is also similar in style to Henig type Xb, which generally dates to between the 2nd-3rd century AD. The bezel is set with a Nicolo glass paste within a collared bezel, decorated with twisted gold wire. this would also suggest a later date of the 3rd-4th century. A wonderful ancient gold ring with minimal wear and damage. An ideal piece to be worn again today
