This is a wonderful Baroque period gold finger ring, dating to the late 17th century. The ring is set with the original gem resembling a turquoise or root emerald. The base of the setting is lined with black enamel in oblong cells decorating the underside of the bezel. The hoop is D-shaped in section and the shoulders are also decorated with black enamel, this time forming the background to a foliate pattern. No maker's marks or inscription is visible.
