This is an ancient Roman silver denarius, of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, minted in Rome between 169 - 170 AD
Obverse: M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXIIII, "Marcus [Aurelius] Antoninus emperor (Augustus), holder of tribunician power for the 24th time" laureate and bearded head of Marcus Aurelius facing right
Reverse: SALVTI AVG COS III, "To the health of the emperor (Augustus). Consul for the third time" Salus standing left, holding sceptre and feeding serpent arising from altar.
