This is a magnificent Renaissance silver pectoral crucifix pendant, dating from the mid 16th to early 17th century. Such a crucifix was designed to be worn on a long chain around the neck (so that it rests on the chest) worn especially by bishops, abbots, and priests. This example displays some wear although is intact and in excellent condition.
