This is an ancient Roman silver denarius, of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, this coin was minted in Rome in 166 AD
Obverse: M ANTONINVS AVG ARM PARTH MAX, "Marcus [Aurelius] Antoninus emperor (Augustus), conqueror of the Armenians, great conqueror of the Parthians" Laureate head of Marcus right.
Reverse: TR P XX IMP IIII COS III, "Holder of tribunician power for the 20th time, supreme commander (Imperator) for the fourth time, consul for the third time." Pax standing left holding branch and cornucopia, PAX "Peace" in exergue.
Coin with an old cabinet tone, it had been uncleaned from excavation and displays horn-silver to the edges.
