This is an ancient Roman silver denarius, of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, minted in Rome between 173 - 174 AD
Obverse: M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXVIII, "Marcus [Aurelius] Antoninus emperor (Augustus), holder of tribunician power for the 28th time" laureate and bearded head of Marcus Aurelius facing right
Reverse: RELIG AVG IMP VI COS III, "the religion of the emperor (Augustus). Supreme commander (Imperator) for the sixth time, consul for the third time" Mercury standing left holding patera and caduceus.
A wonderful bold coin in a pleasing VF.
