This is a rather handsome medieval gold-gilded ring brooch, dating to the 12th - 13th century AD. The brooch is intact with the original pin, with a knobbed collar, decorated with a repeated pattern of engraved cruciform design. Such brooches would have been used to secure clothing, before the use of buttons. It is a good excavated example, originally found in Kent.
