Medieval silver-gilt Retainers ring Black letter 'S' Lancastrian?

This is a rare medieval silver-gilt Retainers ring, inscribed bezel with Black-letter script comprising of conjoined "SSS". The 'S' would signify a Lancastrian supporter, Retainer or Knight. The collar of Esses would be a good example of the type. The Lancastrian Kings that would date to this period would be the likes of King Henry IV, V and VI. A wonderful early ring in good excavated condition.
