This is an excavated Tudor period gold and diamond finger ring, dating to the 16th century. It is set with the original table cut diamond in a rubbed over mount, the body of the ring is engraved and set with enamel. The ring is intact, though sadly the hoop has a break (this is repairable by a competent jeweller and can be laser welded). Diamond set rings of this period were fashionable as engagement rings of the aristocracy. A rare and original Renaissance ring in excavated condition.
