This is an ancient Roman bronze signet ring, dating to the 2nd - 3rd century A.D. It is of a Heing type VIII, with a D-shaped hoop. The bezel is convex when seen from the side, mimicking an intaglio in a high sided setting. It is engraved with a design of an eagle. A good excavated example in wearable condition.
