This is a delightful Renaissance (Tudor period) finger ring, dating to the 16th century. It is set with a pale blue glass gemstone in a claw/cusped setting. The band of the ring is made from a twisted design made from two wires. The ring retains some of the gold gilding, which when newly made would appear to be solid gold. The gem is suggestive of pale blue sapphire. It is a nice and original Tudor period gilded ring from the age of King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth.
