This is a nice example of a Jacobean silver posy ring, dating to the late 16th or early 17th century. The bezel is in the form of two hands, one clasped in the other. Each hand projects from an elaborate lace-like ruffed cuff. The interior surface of the finger ring is inscribed with capitalised text reading BOG NADZIA (Hope in God). This example bears no traces of a makers mark, but the style of lettering in capitals generally dates to the late 16th - early 17th century (being replaced by italic script).
