Georgian gentleman's silver corkscrew by John Touile of London

SOLD

Code: 12042

This is a nice antique silver corkscrew, dating to the late 18th century. The base of the screw cover is stamped with I.T makers mark of John Touliet (who was active in London from 1785 - 1792 AD). The screw opens to reveal the original steel worm, still sharp and perfectly solid. The handle to one side bears an old repair and has a rattle when shaken. It is a nice and tactile object, used by a gentleman of substance whilst travelling to open corks of a good bottle of wine.
