Georgian silver loving cup by Dorothy Langlands of Newcastle

£900.00 Approx $1120.8, €1046.51

Code: 12140

A wonderful Georgian silver loving cup by Dorothy Langlands hallmarked for Newcastle 1811. The cup bears an engraved period monogram, otherwise in excellent condition. She married John Langlands II, whose family were the most prominent silversmiths in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for sixty years. Langlands' husband died in 1804 and after his death, she registered a mark of her own, although the date of registration is unknown. Classified as both a goldsmith and a jeweller, she was active until 1814, with an address on Dean Street. She is among the best-known of the silversmiths from Newcastle-upon-Tyne. This is a very nice example of her work and in excellent antique condition. This cup holds 1 pint.
