This is a superb antique silver wine funnel and strainer, dating to the early 19th century. It bears a date of London 1804 and makers mark of Peter, Ann & William Bateman. It has an elegant swan-necked body with an applied reeded border, a pull-out hand-pierced strainer with an applied reeded border. Hallmark is worn but still visible on both parts of the funnel. The condition is good, the muslin ring has a split and the tip of the spout is rubbed, otherwise to be expected for its 220 years!
