This is a copper-alloy coin weight for a Ferdinand & Isabella 8 Reales. Even though this weight is worn and is an excavated find it still displays the sheaf of arrows and yoke confirming this attribution. This weight would have been used by merchants or bankers whilst weighing the coin on a set of scales during the trade. This would have been an early Piece of Eight as made famous with Pirates!
